Catalogs
- The Catalogs tab is shown below:
- It consists of two sections: Photometric catalog and Astrometric catalog:
- The Photometric catalog allows to select which Photometric catalog Phoranso should use for determining the magnitudes of the reference, check and comparison stars. You can select between the UCAC4 star catalog or the APASS DR10 catalog. UCAC4 internally uses the APASS DR6 and 2MASS catalogs for its photometric data. If you select UCAC4, you will have to press the button with the 3 dots to indicate the location of your UCAC4 catalog, as explained previously.
IMPORTANT: the selection of the Photometric catalog solely influences the creation of new ID Cards. For instance, opting for APASS DR10 allows to create ID Cards where the magnitude values of the reference, check and comparison stars are sourced from the APASS DR10 catalog. During the actual photometry session execution, Phoranso fetches the ID Cards that match your field of view. It then utilizes the magnitude values stored on these ID Cards as a basis for the photometric calculations.
We recommend utilizing APASS DR10 due to its superior photometric accuracy.
- The Astrometric catalog allows to select which astrometric catalog Phoranso should use. At present, we support 3 catalogs:
- The UCAC4 catalog (default), but this time using its astrometric information
- The D50 (Gaia) catalog is exclusively used in combination with the ASTAP astrometric Solver, and is pre-installed with the Solver.
- The Gaia DR3 catalog is exclusively used in combination with the WCSAutoSolver astrometric solver. It is online consulted by WCSAutoSolver.
